- Conclusion on the novelties of Asus laptops at COMPUTEX 2019
Asus is one of the manufacturers that has brought the most novelties at this COMPUTEX 2019 event, in addition to a large amount of hardware, we also have new laptop models in practically all families, with the new 9th generation Core, RTX, Wi-Fi 6 and the introduction of the double screen with Intel. We bring you all these news regarding the Asus system presented.

Asus VivoBook, dual-screen laptops
And we started with a strong update in its VivoBook range, notebooks geared towards day-to-day use and design, because now not only does the ZenBook Pro have a touchpad screen, but these new Asus VivoBook S14 also have it. and S15.
Without a doubt the laptops in this range are distinguished by their elegant as well as daring design and versatility. And this is still the signature of the house, in laptops with 15 and 13-inch screens respectively and an ultra-thin design that give them an impressive weight of between 1 and 2 Kg.
But it is not only about design, these teams mount an 8th generation Intel Core i7 along with a basic Nvidia MX250 graphics card and Intel Optane H10 memory, which give it good power in multitasking. And the two developments that are surely more striking are the implementation of Wi-Fi 6, faster and more powerful than any other Wi-Fi, and Screenpad 2.0, the screen incorporated in the touchpad that will allow us to have a second tiny screen with which to work.
Three new versions of ZenBook 13, 14 and 15
If the VivoBooks are oriented to the day to day, these ZenBook are more oriented to design and leisure notebooks, the manufacturer's slimmer computers are renewed with three new versions along with a pro that we will see later.
The first model has a 13-inch main screen that occupies no less than 95% of the useful surface. The large Screenpad 2.0 and hardware consisting of Intel Core i7, Nvidia MX250 graphics and support for up to 1TB SSD have also been incorporated. This, and the other models also incorporate IR camera for authentication through Windows Hello.
The second model increases the diagonal to 14 inches, although its useful area drops a little to 92%. As for the hardware, it is exactly the same as the smaller model and with a built-in Screenpad as well. The third and last model has a 15-inch screen, Screenpad and identical hardware, were it not for the fact that the new Nvidia 1650 Max-Q has been introduced inside.
New ZenBook Pro Duo, with two 4K displays
The innovations in the ZenBook range were not finished, and now we have a truly innovative laptop, as was the ZenBook Pro with the first ScreenPad of the brand.
And is that now we have not one, but two screens at 4K resolution and touch, the main, 15.6-inch OLED and the secondary, above the keyboard and 14-inch. We have two options in terms of CPU, both 9th generation with i7-9750H and i9-9980HK together with a dedicated Nvidia RTX 2060 Max-Q card, almost nothing.
An ideal laptop for multimedia content creation thanks to double 4K and Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, although it is certainly a bit thicker than previous ZennBooks due to the powerful hardware.
New model TUF Gaming FX705DU
The iconic Asus TUF gaming series also has a new member and, attention, with AMD Ryzen 7 3750H as CPU, 8 GB of DDR4 RAM and Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti of 6 GB GDDR6 as a dedicated graphics card. Storage consists of a single 512GB SSD, though expandable via another M.2 slot.
Its screen offers a diagonal of 17.3 inches and 1920x1080p resolution, although with only 60 Hz. In the connectivity section, we do not have Wi-Fi 6 and the truth is that this would have been something necessary, given that everything is going to revolve around this standard from now on.
In any case, it is a fairly powerful gaming laptop and it is expected to come to a price of around 1, 200 euros, a great option without a doubt for those users on tight budgets who do not want to give up the 1080p gaming capacity.
Asus ROG Zephyrus M GU502
We continue with the news, and now we go into purely gaming laptops like this new Zephyrus. Asus has not abandoned the ultra-slim design that has accompanied the family to create very powerful gaming laptops without giving up portability.
In this case we have a 9th generation CPU, we assume that a Core i7-9750H together with a Nvidia RTX 2060 graphics card, up to here is within the expected range. But it has a FullHD screen of no less than 240 Hz with a 3ms response, which far exceeds many gaming monitors. You could not miss AMD FreeSync as dynamic refresh technology, nor a high-performance Saber ESS DAC for our headphones.
Asus ROG Strix G: two gaming variants at an affordable price
The Strix range also has new additions, although we will leave the most powerful for last. In this case we are presented with several options on the table with a starting price of approximately 1, 100 euros.
We can choose a 15.6 or 17.3-inch screen at a frequency of 144 Hz, we started well then. But things improve when we know that the chosen processor is an Intel Core i7-9750H and that it has several Nvidia RTX graphics card options, although we assume that the entry model must have Nvidia GTX Turing, judging by the price.
We hope that with these very tight prices the brand has not given up a good refrigeration system or too basic structural elements, in any case, we are determined to try one of them soon.
New high-end model Asus ROG Strix HERO III
Here we raised the level significantly to position ourselves in the high-end range of Asus gaming laptops, although it is striking that the brand has opted for a more restrained yet elegant design, thanks to brushed metal finishes in silver and with RGB lighting under the front giving that ROG Strix touch.
Despite its external discretion, inside we have the most powerful hardware that exists today, for example, an Intel Core i9-9880H CPU for the most powerful model, or i7-9750H and i5-9300H for the lower ones. Similarly, we can opt for the Nvidia RTX 2070, 2060 graphics cards or the GTX 16560 Ti in combination with 15.6 and 17.3-inch screens at a frequency of 144 Hz or 240 Hz.
In addition, being 25 and 27 mm thick, it allows us to install higher-performance cooling and the ability to install SSHD hard drives indoors. Something that we did not like is that connectivity has remained in Wi-Fi AC instead of opting for the new generation, we do not understand the reason for not taking that step. Very good options for those players or even content creators who need a powerful laptop to get around.
Asus ROG Strix Scar III
If we talk about Scar, we are talking about gross power and the top range of the Asus brand. This third generation comes loaded with models where you can choose, but all of them oriented to give maximum performance.
But if we look at its specifications, it is precisely what the HERO III series that we have previously discussed offers us. In fact, we have exactly the same models of CPU, graphics card, screen and other specifications.
Conclusion on the novelties of Asus laptops at COMPUTEX 2019
Asus has presented us with a lot of novelties in terms of its portable systems, but those that stand out without a doubt are the new VivoBook with Screenpad 2.0 and quite enhanced features, and the new ZenBook, especially the Pro Duo with this double 4K screen that incorporates thanks to its partnership with Intel in its Athena project.
It is also interesting to opt for mid-range gaming laptops at a price close to 1, 000 euros, something that had not yet been seen in this generation. Thanks to the establishment of new hardware and competition, manufacturers offer users as interesting variants as those presented.
And finally we must say that we expected a little more extras in the high-end Strix, the non-inclusion of Wi-Fi 6 or RTX 2080 cards among other things, we believe that it limits its possibilities a bit, being models as expensive as these.
