AMD celebrates the first anniversary of its EPYC server CPU and has hosted a short webinar to discuss the future that awaits this platform, which seems to be paying off.

7nm EPYC 'ROME' processors in 2019, then MILAN at 7nm +

EPYC, AMD's first 'real' server platform since the Opterons, has been able to compete with Intel Xeon CPUs on all fronts. Not only were they going for the flagship pieces, but they were targeting Intel at any price and in single- or multi-socket configurations. However, AMD does not want to fall asleep, and is already thinking about the second generation of EPYC processors, which will be arriving in 2019.

At Computex 2018, AMD announced that it is testing the second generation 7nm EPYC 'Rome' processors in this second half of 2018. AMD CEO Lisa Su even had a 7nm EPYC processor in her hands. The same processors are currently in AMD's labs and are being evaluated. The idea is that they are ready for 2019, a goal that is quite possible if they are already in the evaluation process.

According to the plans of the red manufacturer, ROME is created at 7 nm and MILAN will follow, it is designed at 7 nm + and based on the Zen 3 core.

AMD also mentioned that they will be bringing Zen 4 and Zen 5 architecture based processors in the post-2020 era. No details were mentioned, but it looks like they are serious and have a fairly clear long-term roadmap, so Intel you cannot stay in this battle.
