The trade war between the United States and China forces many companies to move their production to other countries, to avoid tariffs. It is something that we have seen these months, to which Google had already joined, with some of its products. The American firm also now does the same with the production of its phones. Pixels will be produced outside of China to avoid these tariffs.

It seems that Vietnam is the chosen destination in this case. The firm is setting up a supply chain in the country, following in the footsteps of brands like Samsung.
Production relocation
Samsung already has experience in Vietnam, having even created a supply chain years ago. Therefore, for Google it is a good opportunity when it comes to producing its Pixel. Since they meet specialized and experienced personnel in the country, thus allowing production to not suffer problems or there is a decrease in quality of their devices.
At the end of this year part of the production will be transferred to Vietnam. At first, only some specific models will be produced in the country, it seems that mid-range phones would be the first to be manufactured in Vietnam.
Google has the advantage that they make few phones, compared to other brands. So it is easier for them to move their Pixel production out of China. In a few months this process should be completed officially, so surely there will be more news soon.
