Ram memory prices

The prices of RAM modules and SSDs have been going up since last year and during 2017 they continue an upward spiral, they are becoming more expensive and that worries, but it seems that there is light at the end of the road.

The price of the reports will continue to increase during 2017

According to Jon Erensen, Gartner's director of semiconductor research, prices for RAM and NAND Flash- based drives began to plummet only in 2019. Currently there is a shortage of memories to meet the high demand for semiconductors, both for PCs and for all types of mobile devices, which is causing prices to rise like the foam at the moment.

Apparently this shortage of semiconductors would end only in 2019, when major manufacturers such as Samsung, Hynix and many others update their factories or create new ones, such as Hynix and its new NAND memory factory in China, which will be ready to function fully precisely during 2019.

Since mid-2016, prices for PC DRAMs have doubled in value and as Jon Erensen predicts, prices for RAMs and SSDs will peak during this quarter. The increase in these prices also affects the value of laptops, which forced companies like HP or Lenovo to reconsider the prices of their devices so as not to lose profitability.

There are two reasons why we have come to this situation. The first is that the sales of mobile and portable devices has increased exponentially, in addition to requiring higher capacity memories. Today it is common to find phones with 6GB of RAM and capacities of 64GB and up, which are more complex to manufacture.

The other reason is the lack of forecast of the main manufacturers, who did not expect such demand and did not go ahead in creating new factories to cover it.
