At the moment it is not known exactly when the next models of PC Tablets in the Microsoft Surface range will be released, but according to several recent reports, the fifth generation of these devices will not bring great news.

Apparently, the company does not plan major changes in the next version of the range, Surface Pro 5, although Microsoft affairs expert Paul Thurrott points out that the device will have the same power connector and Kaby Lake processors.

Surface Pro 5: Kaby Lake processors, proprietary power connector, and USB-C

All of these details make perfect sense, especially since upgrading the CPU to the new Kaby Lake range is something that every PC maker is trying to do in order to provide the best possible performance.

Every new generation of Surface has brought the most powerful processors available at launch, making the choice for Kaby Lake undoubtedly in Microsoft's plans.

As for the power connector of the Surface Pro 5, Microsoft decided to use the same proprietary connector, apparently to maintain the compatibility of the old accessories with the new model, although apart from that the company will provide other connectivity options, such as a USB-C port, which would only serve for data transfers and not for loading.

As for the launch date of the Surface Pro 5, for now there is nothing confirmed, although the company could hold an event this spring to present the new range of tablets.

Likewise, Microsoft is also working hard on the development of the Surface Book 2, a hybrid laptop with better specifications than the Surface Pro 5 and whose launch would be scheduled for later, around this fall or at the end of 2017.
