We are dangerously close to Computex 2019, and that means leaks, rumors and more. According to Chiphell sources, Intel is planning to launch the first Cascade Lake processors (LGA 3647) next April, while Cascade Lake-X (LGA 2066) would be unveiled at Computex.

Cascade Lake (LGA 3647) next April, while Cascade Lake-X (LGA 2066)

Intel will opt for a phased launch program with LGA 3647 socket processors, launching these first and a time after Computex those Cascade Lake-X chips (2066). Cascade Lake-X is the successor to Kaby Lake-X and will be based on Intel's 'amazing' 14nm ++ node. The nice thing about 14nm ++ is that Intel is going to further polish this manufacturing process, and we can expect clock speeds that easily exceed 5GHz.

The LGA 2066 socket includes those Skylake-X processors up to the flagship Core i9-9980XE. While the LGA 3647 socket is used for HEDT equipment, such as the Xeon W-3175X.

The new Cascade Lake release is likely to include Intel's gigantic 48-core AP processor, which is supposed to be at least 3.4 times faster than AMD's EPYC offerings.

The Cascade Lake-X processors will have to compete against the third generation of Ryzen, an interesting battle that will be fought in the middle of this year. This new generation of Intel processors is also expected to come with the definitive solutions for the Specter and Meltdown vulnerabilities, which have caused so many headaches for the Californian company.
