Intel will launch the "Coffee Lake" range of processors with a set of six models, two under the Core i7 range, two Core i5 and two Core i3. The eighth-generation i7 and i5 models will have six processing cores, while the Core i3 will have four cores, representing an increase in the number of cores.
Although these chips will go on sale soon, it seems that distributors could have a supply problem until the first quarter of 2018, when Intel will have greater capacity and willingness to manufacture more units.
The first quarter of 2018 will also be very interesting in this industry, as it is also the period in which AMD will launch the second generation of Ryzen processors, based on the new 12nm Pinnacle Ridge silicon. This new model will be a modified version of GlobalFoundries' 12nm Summit Ridge / Zeppelin chip, which will also allow AMD to increase clock frequencies across the board without sacrificing power consumption. Undoubtedly, the second generation of AMD Ryzen will again give AMD an advantage over the Coffee Lake chips.
