Threadripper processors drop in price ahead of zen 2 launch

With 12-core chips in AM4, the AMD X399 platform offerings are becoming somewhat irrelevant given the advantages that Zen 2 offers, both in terms of multichip connectivity and in terms of single-threaded performance. The biggest price cut, as indicated in the Scan UK store, is shown with AMD's 12-core Threadripper 2920X model , which has dropped from £ 569 to £ 369, leading to a £ 200 price reduction.. This is enough to cover most of the cost of a new AMD X399 motherboard.

Thanks to AMD's Zen 2 core design and the company's improved multidie CPU architecture, many of Threadripper's performance deficiencies have been addressed, leaving Threadripper in a strange position. However, we know that AMD has plans to launch a third generation, probably during 2020, which should double the bet in terms of the number of cores.
