This year a whole series of new Zen 2-based processors will be released, ranging from the popular Ryzen and Threadripper to those EPYC for servers. However, AMD already has plans for what the jump to Zen 3 would mean, which would be scheduled for 2020.

AMD's Zen 3 architecture would be present in a wide variety of Ryzen, Threadripper and EPYC series processors, manufactured by TSMC with an advanced process using EUV technology.

It is mentioned that AMD's Zen 3 architecture will achieve a large increase in transistor density thanks to the TSMC 7nm + process node. Unlike Zen 2 CPUs that use the 7nm node, the 7nm + node uses advanced EUV technology that would be ready for volume production in the second quarter of 2019.

There is currently a custom version of the process, known as the N7 Pro, that would be used in the production of Apple's A13 processor for its upcoming iPhones. AMD will likely want to wait and not get on the 7nm EUV train so soon, considering they are in the process of launching their line of Zen 2 processors (TSMC 7nm), but we can expect production of the new Zen chips. 3 start early next year.

The move to this new node will bring only benefits for AMD processors, with a 20% increase in total transistor density, while increasing energy efficiency by 10%.
