The new Kailh SUN mechanical switches were seen this year 2018 at Computex, with centralized lighting and very bright built-in, while offering a distance and actuation force below average. At the 2018 Electronica trade fair in Munich, Kailh showed off the first commercial keyboard to make use of these switches, the Hexgears GK760.

Hexgears GK760 will be the first keyboard to hit the market with Kailh SUN switches

The new Hexgears GK760 is a full-size keyboard with 104 keys and ABS plastic keys, which appear to have a low profile even though the actual switches are not necessarily. There's a full column of programmable G keys, as well as a dedicated volume scroll wheel, and a luxurious, thick wrist rest to accompany the keyboard. We can also see what appear to be two USB pass-through ports, and the secondary legends on the keys also indicate plenty of additional controls. No word yet on pricing and availability, we hope to see more of Kailh's keyboard and new switches in action very soon.

We recommend reading our article on The best keyboards for PC (Mechanical, membrane and wireless)

The manufacturers of Chinese switches are putting the batteries, announcing new designs that depart from the traditional ones of Cherry, the leading German manufacturer in this technology and that has served as the basis for the design of all the switches that we can find on the market in today. So far Kailh has clearly lagged behind Cherry, but if she continues to work on new differentiating proposals, it can become a very worth considering option.

What do you expect from these Kailh SUN switches and the Hexgears GK760 keyboard? We would like to know your opinion about the keyboards that include the mechanisms of this Chinese manufacturer.
