Maru turns your android smartphone into a pc with debian
Table of contents:
Microsoft may have been the first to achieve the desired convergence with its Continuum technology that turns compatible Lumia smartphones into a small PC by connecting them to a monitor. Maru OS seeks to become the Android alternative to Microsoft's Continuum and aims to be much better than Redmond's solution.
Maru OS transforms your Android into a complete PC with Debian Gnome
Maru OS is a custom ROM that aims to turn your Andorid smartphone into a mini computer with a Linux operating system. When we connect our smartphone with Maru OS to a monitor using an MHL cable, a Debian operating system with Gnome is put into operation that we will see on our monitor and that offers autonomous and independent operation of the smartphone, so we can simultaneously use Debian on our monitor and Android on the smartphone.
It certainly seems very interesting and if it were to go ahead it would be a much more attractive option than Continuum, let's not forget that Microsoft's solution only allows you to run store applications and not traditional desktop software. With Maru OS we have at our disposal a complete Debian system with access to the thousands of packages and applications available in its repositories.
For now it is only available in beta form for the Nexus 5, hopefully very soon we can all enjoy its benefits on our Android smartphone.
