DRAM memory module prices rose 50% this year

In the second half of 2016 the prices of memory modules had started to rise and during 2017 this trend continues. The average price of PC DRAM modules rose nearly 40% in the first quarter of the year to $ 24 and then more than 10% sequentially in the second quarter to $ 27. Additionally, the average contract price for PC DRAM modules increased by 4.6% between June and July alone.

The DRAMeXchange price forecast for the second half of this year indicates that they will continue to rise, just at the time when demand is usually higher.

"The DRAM market in the second half of this year will enter the peak season with tight supply compounded by the temporary suspension of N2 (Fab-2) owned by Micron Technology Taiwan (MTTW), " said Avril Wu, director of research. from DRAMeXchange .

Micron's N2 factory was temporarily suspended, making it one of the largest memory module manufacturers. This exacerbates memory module supply problems and will undoubtedly impact price. It is believed that during the two-week suspension from the N2 factory, some 50, 000 DRAM memory wafers were lost.
