Microsoft permanently cancels project astoria

Microsoft's adventure in the mobile phone market has not been the best. It can be considered a failure on many levels. It is not only the phones that are to blame, as the company has offered very few applications at all times. Especially when compared to Android or iOS. Something that wanted to change with the so-called Project Astoria.

Thanks to this idea, it is expected to emulate Android applications on Windows Phone. But, this project does not come to fruition either, since it has finally been announced that the project is canceled. It was news that was expected, since it had been standing for quite some time. But, it is already official.

Project Astoria will no longer go ahead

Brandon LeBlanc confirmed this on Twitter. Emulation of Android applications to Windows 10 Mobile devices will not be performed. Some light is shed on this project that had been stopped for several months and without many prospects for the future.

It must be said that it was a somewhat controversial project for Microsoft. Since many claimed that if they wanted Android applications they would buy an Android phone directly. While other voices affirmed that it was a project with potential. But, as it was already rumored, Project Astoria will not go ahead.

With this decision it seems that Microsoft continues to abandon its efforts in the telephony sector. A sector in which they have not found the expected success.
