Microsoft has confirmed during its #MicrosoftEDU event that the full version of the Office productivity suite will hit the Windows Store next month, initially as a preview and then as a stable build.

The Windows Store for Education will be the first to receive this version of Office, although at this time it is also rumored that users of the Creators Update could install the preliminary version.

Full version of Office will be available in the Windows Store in June this year

However, it must be said that although all Office applications will be brought to the Windows Store, there are still some differences that Microsoft details in a blog post.

“The applications brought to the Store will use the new installation and update technology, and will only be available in the 32-bit format. Although web plug-ins are fully supported, Office plug-ins will not be allowed in Windows 10 S, ”said Microsoft.

Developed for Windows 10 S

Specifically developed for the education sector, the version of Office for the Windows Store includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications that will be used above all in Windows 10 S.

In case you did not know, Windows 10 S is a new version of the operating system that is aimed at the education sector and is limited only to applications from the Windows Store, which is why Microsoft decided to bring the Office productivity suite to Windows Store.

There is no exact date yet for the end of the trial period for Office in the Windows Store, but the stable version will likely be available later this year and all applications will be updated at that time.

Additionally, it should also be noted that OneNote is already available in the Windows Store and that the Teams / Teams app will be available on the platform in the third quarter of 2017, according to Microsoft's announcement.
