The so-called "Andromeda" project, which designs a Microsoft Surface series phone, has been in the news since last year, but the information that was emerging was quite sparse, until now. A leaked email along with new APIs found in the latest preview version of Windows 10 gives us new clues about this device being developed by the Redmond giant.

The Surface phone would have a foldable design

The code-named Surface phone Andromeda is not going to be just a conventional "phone". It's going to be a “pocket device” in the footsteps of Microsoft's successful Surface line of flexible-hinged laptops.

Based on the known proprietary files and leaked email from Microsoft, a Twitter user has posted some detailed renderings of what this foldable Surface phone might look like.

In the latest news, Panos Panay - chief of Surface - posted a photo on Twitter of him and a cartoon of him - a gift from LG. The two images are apparently tied to a hinged two-piece photo frame, which resembles the Surface phone in tablet mode, when fully extended. This could be an indication that LG will produce the screens, or we are simply looking for a track that is not there, but is very striking.

Do you think they got the resemblance right?

Huge thanks to LG Display for the awesome caricature. #nailedit pic.twitter.com/vejlOIVuoK

It has been rumored about a new Microsoft phone for about a year and it is certain that Microsoft sought to create a phone that attracts attention through its innovation and not only improve the specifications of existing phones, as it did with its Lumia series in the past.. It is still early to talk about dates, but it is said that we could see it later this year. We will remain in expectation.
