The latest macOS Mojave update has brought a system-wide native dark mode, along with other improvements in the Finder, the desktop, the Mac App Store and much more. If you are someone who prefers the new dark mode, and also uses the Microsoft Office applications, there is good news, as the company is offering the dark mode to Office 365 users.

MacOS Mojave already has a dark mode for Office 365 users

The new version 181029 of Office 365 is aimed at Office Insiders in the fast ring, it is a version that includes a new dark mode function for Word, Excel and PowerPoint. In addition, the compilation also includes a new ribbon with an updated icon style. The icons look good as they adapt to the theme and are consistent throughout the ribbon. This should reduce strain on the eyes when viewing at night or in low light areas.

The update is currently available only to those with an Office 365 subscription who are enrolled in the Office Insiders Quick Ring. The feature will eventually make its way to the broader audience soon. Office 2019 for Mac, the standalone version of Office, may not receive this feature as it is a single version and you do not receive regular feature updates.
