Unboxing and design

Minix presents the Minix NEO Z83-4 in a compact blue box that details the exact model and that incorporates Windows 10 64-bit.

While in the back there are all its technical characteristics in detail and a small introduction of what it can offer us. On each side we have the accessories that include.

Once we open it and as we expected, it comes perfectly protected and brings a wide range of accessories. We detail what the bundle incorporates:

The Minix NEO Z83-4 It has dimensions of 12 x 12.5 x 2.5cm and a very light weight. It is so compact that it fits perfectly in the palm of one hand.

Its matt black design gives it a minimalist and premium component touch. On the front we find three USB 2.0 connections, a 3.0 connection, a microSD card reader and the power button.

We turn to the right side and we have all the rear connections: audio, minidisplayport, HDMI, RJ45 and power outlet .

On the left side we have the Wifi antenna socket and a Kensington blocker.

Finally, aesthetically we show you what the rear area is like. We see two stickers that identify the product with its serial number, the brand's logo screen printed and 4 rubber feet.

It has an Intel Atom x5-Z8300 SoC processor based on the dual-core, low-power Cherry Trail architecture. Its manufacturing process is 14nm, 2 MB of cache, it runs at a frequency of 1.44 GHz (base) that goes up to 1.84 GHz with the turbo Boost and has a TDP of 2W.

As a graphics card it has an Intel HD Graphics HD 5300 compatible with DirectX 11.2 and a frequency of 500 MHz, for example games like Counter Strike GO is capable of moving it or any movie in Ultra HD (4K) H.265 without any problem. Among its output connections it has HDMI 1.4b and DisplayPort 1.1a.

Regarding RAM memory, it has 4 GB LPDDR3 that are more than enough to move Windows 10 64 Bits with enough ease and are more than enough for any office task or multimedia playback with KODI.

Finally, I would like to point out that it incorporates a total of 32 GB of hard disk (eMMC format) that cannot be expanded, although we can use a microSD card or various USB connectors to have more storage.

We have tested the equipment both with Windows 10 that comes pre-installed with daily tasks: consultation of websites and basic office packages as with the KODI repdoctor in its latest version, always in Full HD 1920 x 1080p resolution. And the experience has been really good.

We have also passed some synthetic tests such as CineBench R15 and the one that comes by default CPU-Z to have a reference for future revisions.

As we can see, it is not the most powerful processor we have analyzed, but with just 2W we achieve incredible performance and become the all-rounder in our laboratory. Secondary PC and multimedia player with KODI or VLC.

The Minix NEO Z83-4 is a miniPC with 64-bit dual-core X5-Z8300 processor, 4GB of memory, 32GB internal, and full 4K resolution support. Among its connectivity we find HDMI outputs, Mini DisplayPort, several USB 3.0 connections, Wifi 802.11 AC adapter, Bluetooth 4.2 and a microSD card reader to expand the internal memory of the device.

In our tests we have been able to verify that its performance is really good, so much so that for basic office tasks, watching content on the Internet and playing movies with KODI in 4K it is more than enough.

If we want to do tasks that require a larger processor, this is where we see that it falters. For example, video and photo editing falls short. Also logical, since it is based on the tasks that we discussed in the previous paragraph.
