Capcom is preparing to launch the PC version of Monster Hunter World on August 9, bringing one of its most featured titles this year to the platform. The game is expected to be very demanding on hardware, something that is confirmed by the first tests.

GeForce GTX 1060 can't handle Monster Hunter World at 1440p and 60 FPS

Monster Hunter World is expected to be one of the most demanding PC games of this year 2018, due to the game's dependence on image reconstruction techniques on consoles. These Checkerboard rendering style techniques are designed to form incomplete output images, and use data from the previous frame to create what appears to be a higher resolution final image. This technique allows to offer very high resolutions with relatively little powerful hardware.

A Resetera user named "FluffyQuack" has released several 5K images of Monster Hunter World, and has released various performance data regarding the pre-release PC version of the game. FluffyQuack reports that the game cannot be played at 1440p 60FPS at its highest graphics quality using a GeForce GTX 1060, forcing you to use a lower graphics setting to maintain 60FPS.

This makes sense given the game's demanding hardware recommendations, with Capcom recommending the GeForce GTX 1060 3GB and the 4GB Radeon RX 570X to play at 1080p resolution and 30 FPS with the graphics up, which is not maximum. It remains to be seen if Capcom has included the possibility of using a technique similar to Checkerboard on PC, which would help improve performance to a great extent. What do you expect from the Monster Hunter World PC version?
