We continue to see the novelties shown at Computex 2018, this time it is the new EVGA X299 Micro 2 and B360 Gaming motherboards for the Intel and AMD platforms respectively.
EVGA X299 Micro 2, new high-end motherboard for Intel Core i9
EVGA X299 Micro 2 is a huge step up from the original Micro X299 released last year. The most important change with the EVGA X299 Micro 2 is its VRM, which has been redesigned to better accommodate 12- to 18-core Core i9 processors, particularly 16- and 18-core models. Whereas the original X299 Micro featured a single 8-pin EPS connector.

The new X299 Micro 2 features two 8-pin EPS connectors, plus it has higher-powered MOSFETs and a much larger VRM heatsink that is cooled by a 40mm fan. Also an additional 6-pin PCIe power connector that stabilizes power delivery to graphics cards.
The features of this new EVGA X299 Micro 2 continue with DDR4 DIMM slots and steel-reinforced PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots for increased strength. Not everything is improvements as it loses the third x16 slot from the original model, which has been replaced by an x4 slot. Finally, it adds support for WiFi 802.11ac + Bluetooth 5.0 that was not present in the original model.
As for the EVGA B360 Gaming, it is the company's first product based on AMD's B-series chipset. This board is approximately the width of 3-slot and 2-DIMM mATX boards, but offers four expansion slots and two DDR4 DIMM slots. The USB 3.1 header and SATA ports are angled to make better use of space. Connectivity goes through six SATA 6 Gbps, a single 32 Gbps M.2 slot, a single PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot, a PCI-Express 3.0 x4 and one x1.
It also offers an M.2-2240 slot for additional WLAN cards, Intel i219-V gigabit Ethernet, 6-channel audio with a gaming headphone amplifier, and two USB 3.1 gen 2 ports on the rear panel.
