MSI Aegis Ti Technical Features

Unboxing and design

A large, full-color box presents the new MSI Aegis Ti barebone. On the cover we see a picture of the product and once we open the box we find the following bundle inside:

  • MSI Aegis Ti. Power cord.

The MSI Aegis Ti is one of the best pre-assembled desktop computers that we can find on the market, MSI pays great attention to all its products and this is no exception. The team stands out above all for its enormous capacity to process video games thanks to a configuration based on no less than two GeForce GTX 1080 graphics cards in SLI mode, a solution that it has already demonstrated that is capable of offering unbeatable performance for its rivals and that can handle the demanding 4K resolution with a lot of ease.

Of course graphics cards are not the only important thing, the MSI Aegis Ti hides an advanced and very powerful quad-core Intel Core i7 6700K processor based on the Skylake architecture. This processor offers a tremendous performance as standard but MSI wants to go further and has included an automatic overclock mode that will put the processor to work at a frequency of 4.6 GHz, thereby ensuring that there will be no bottleneck on the graphics cards. Accompanying the processor we find 32 GB of DDR4 SO-DIMM memory in a dual chanel configuration, the equipment has two free slots so it can be expanded up to 64 GB.

Storage is provided by a combination of 256GB of M.2 SSD technology in Raid 0 mode and a 1TB mechanical disk, so you can enjoy all the benefits of flash storage without sacrificing the high capacity of mechanical disks, excellent choice of MSI

As much power generates a lot of heat no matter how efficient all the components are, the MSI Aegis Ti has the advanced Silent Storm Cooling 3 cooling technology that is responsible for creating three air flows within the equipment for an excellent dissipation of the heat generated during its In this way, it is possible to maintain very high clock frequencies during long gaming sessions to achieve maximum performance. We note that the equipment is powered by a 850W source with 80 Plus Platinum for less energy loss in the form of heat.

The specifications of the MSI Aegis Ti are completed with the presence of a Killer LAN E2400 network interface, WiFi 802.11ac Killer 1435AC, Bluetooth 4.1, a Slim format DVD burner, several USB 3.1 Type-C / A ports, USBs 2.0 ports, a video output in the form of HDMI 2.0 and high-quality 7.1- channel audio compatible with Nahimic 2.0.

In view of all the specifications, we must look at the design of this MSI Aegis Ti, the team has aggressive and angular lines, with an upper area formed by 5 fins that allow the hot air outlet inside the equipment to be improved to improve its cooling. We also see a handle on the back that makes it easy to move.

The team presents a renovated and very complete front, we see an advanced lighting system consisting of several RGB LED strips. These strips are configurable in a very simple way with the application that MSI makes available to users for Windows 10, we can change the colors and light effects. The front also includes an illuminated button to activate the automatic overclocking mode for the CPU and GPU with which we can get all the performance possible. Finally we see its connections in the form of USB-C, USB, audio, on / off button and HDMI ports to facilitate the connection of Virtual Reality systems such as HTC Vive glasses.

The left side offers us a large window to see the inside of the team.

In the back of the MSI Aegis Ti we find all the different ports of the I / O panel of the motherboard as well as 4 screw levers that serve to release the sides and access the interior. The interior of this version of MSI Aegis has been renovated to make better use of the available space, the components have been placed so that they are as compact as possible. This makes it easier than ever to access all the different components of the equipment. In this MSI Aegis Ti it is very easy to access the two free SO-DIMM slots as well as the two M.2 PCIe SSDs that it includes and the free SATA port to add an additional 2.5-inch SSD or HDD.

To access the two GTX 1080 we just need to unscrew the top cover and slide it to the side thanks to its hinges. This cover includes a fan and offers us the possibility of installing a second one to further improve the cooling of the equipment. These two fans will have the function of extracting all the heat generated by the graphics cards, something very important as it is a SLI configuration that generates a lot of heat

Benchmark and in-game testing

To test the performance of the new MSI Aegis we have chosen to pass you with our special games in Full HD resolution. Where we include titles like Doom 4, overwatch, Crysis 3 and many more.

Temperatures and consumption

Temperatures are as expected with 36º idle and 62º in maximum performance the fantastic i7-6700k processor. While the graphics at no time exceeded 82ºC in SLI.. while at rest they are always at 52ºC.

It is surprising both for its temperatures and for its consumption, it can be seen that MSI has done a great job and we have consumption of 125 W at rest and average consumption of 492 W. Although it must be said that we have peak of 550w casually.

Final words and conclusion on MSI Aegis Ti

The MSI Aegis Ti is a latest generation equipment, quite compact for its technical characteristics and an excellent design.

Among its specifications we find an Intel Core i7 6700k processor, 32 GB of DDR4 memory at 2400 MHz, a SLI GTX 1080 and a RAID 0 of two M.2 disks that make a total of 256 GB.

In our performance tests we have seen its great potential and its 100% compatibility with virtual reality glasses and especially with 4K configurations. But… we ask you a question… Is the option of SLI 1080 really worth it? Or is a 1080 setting better (which currently exists in online stores of the same model?

We recommend reading the best graphics cards on the market.

Regarding noise and temperatures, it offers us a quite remarkable result. At start-up the fans speed up but when they reach the operating system it is completely inaudible, while temperatures are very good at all times. Compact 120mm liquid cooling helps the processor a lot to keep temperatures below 65ºC alongside the SLI GTX 1080.

It is currently found in online stores in various versions, the one we have analyzed costs 3999 euros but its price with a GTX 1080 is around 3499 euros. Do we recommend the option if you are looking for a pre-assembled equipment?
