Msi gt76 titan, a beast with i9 processor

Anyone who sees the specifications of this MSI GT76 Titan would not believe that we are dealing with a gaming laptop. And is that MSI has created a crazy laptop that keeps inside a desktop PC hardware with all the law, Intel Core i9-9900K and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 are its strengths to be the most powerful laptop ever built.

MSI GT76 Titan, a desktop PC with integrated display

This is how we can define this colossal laptop, and it is that it is not only a powerful hardware, the laptop itself is a complete mastodon of 397 x 330 x 42 mm thinking no less than 4.5 Kg. Where have you seen a 4.2 cm thick laptop? As you all understand, this laptop is ideal for travel due to its portability and low consumption (joke).

Well, in case we do not have enough with one, this laptop comes in two different configurations, the Titan DT 9SG and the Titan 9SF, in which only its internal GPU changes. In the first we have a Nvidia RTX 2080 desktop graphics card, while in the other model we have an Nvidia RTX 2070 also a desktop, here no Max-Q or child stuff.

Its main hardware consists of an 8-core, 16-core Intel Core i9-9900K desktop processor capable of running at around 5 GHz in turbo mode. We know him well because we have two sides of evidence with him, and he is a beast, although he warms like neither. The case is that we also have four DIMM slots that support 128 GB of DDR4-2660 MHz RAM under an Intel Z390 chipset as normal.

The factory available storage capacity is not specified, although its slots are. We have a total of three M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 slots, two of them also offer SATA compatibility. Likewise, capacity for a 2.5-inch HDD hard drive has been included . And all this hardware will be powered by an 8-cell 90 Whr battery, or an external 230W source, although we don't know the autonomy, don't expect too much.

Exclusive cooling, although we don't know if enough

Possibly the images inspire you enough confidence, since the heatsink is made up of 11 copper heat pipes, five of them dedicated to the i9, four for the 2080 and two of them for the VRM. In addition, the air will be expelled thanks to four external turbine fans.

What we are sure of is what noise it will make, and that it is a forceful system like no other seen on a laptop. But it is that these two chips generate enormous heat, especially the i9 when it works at maximum performance, that not any liquid is capable of lowering it by 70 degrees. We hope that MSI has worked on the IHS, or even that it has been a Delid on it, because if we do not go wrong.

Screen and peripherals at the height of a Titan

If you think you have had enough with what you have read before, although we are far from finished. Its screen consists of a 17.3-inch panel that will be available in two different versions, the first one with IPS FullHD panel at 144 Hz, and the second one with UHD 4K at 60Hz 100% Adobe sRGB. Worthy gaming screen that in this case a 4K resolution would make sense, since the RTX 2080 is capable of pulling it without problems.

As for connectivity, we have more or less what we can expect, or not. For the Ethernet section, a Killer E3000 chip has been installed that offers 2500 Mbps, while wireless connectivity is Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) thanks to the Killer AX1650 chip that offers a bandwidth of 2.4 Gbps at 5 GHz and 574 Mbps at 2.4 GHz on 2 × 2 connections.

The keyboard, as it could not be otherwise, belongs to the manufacturer Steelseries, it is of the chewing gum type, one of the best that exists with individual key-to-key lighting. We do not have information on the touchpad, but we imagine that it is the one used by other Titan models of the brand, with benefits to match what we are dealing with.

For the sound we have a pack of 3 speakers, a 3W Sufwoofer and two 2W Speakers. But we do not understand one thing, why not put a webcam that is worth it? We have a ridiculous 720p @ 60Hz sensor. A laptop of this size should have a camera and microphone capable of recording quality video and streaming.

Price and availability

We are done with your specs, and now we see to see when we can buy this Titan. MSI has reported that it will be available during the month of July for a symbolic price from 3, 500 euros, we imagine that the RTX 2070 version and FullHD screen.

We will be waiting for more information to see how much all the versions that can be offered cost us. If anyone wants to buy this equipment, please leave a comment below to ask for a donation.
