Third day of this intense Computex 2019, and it has been the turn for MSI to have presented its AMD X570 chipset boards. And we will start with the two occupying the MEG series, they are the MSI MEG X570 Godlike and the MSI MEG X570 ACE, the two top of the brand range that come with many new features.
PCIe 4.0, Wi-Fi 6 and expansion cards for Godlike
At this point in the game, surely you have already seen our news from previous days with other brands and their plates. However, we are going to refresh very briefly what this new generation brings us.
The X570 chipset is the evolution of the previous X470, a chipset oriented to use in the new 3rd generation AMD Ryzen, although it is compatible with 1st and 2nd as well. The most important innovation is that it offers support for the new PCIe 4.0 standard, a bus that doubles the speed of PCIe 3.0, that is, we have 2000 MB / s for each data line both up and down. In addition, the chip has 20 LANES.
The second novelty is the incorporation of Wi-Fi 6 cards in the boards, that is, a wireless connection running through the 802.11ax protocol and which offers a speed of 2402 Mb / s 2 × 2 at 5 GHz, and 574 Mb / s in the 2.4 GHz band along with Bluetooth 5.0.
MSI MEG X570 Godlike
We are going to start with the best performance plate of the brand for this AMD chipset. Starting with the design, we already know that the MEG series offers the best of the best, and in this case it's a massive amount of aluminum heatsinks scattered across the board.
We have a large one on the chipset with forced ventilation and RGB lighting. This is understood up to the three M.2 slots and by means of a copper heat pipe up to the double heatsink of the VRM. The rear panel also includes a protector with lighting, as well as the sound area and the side of the DIMM slots as a mere aesthetic claim. What a great job we see on this PCB gentlemen.
As for basic board performance, we have an impressive VRM of 14 + 4 + 1 Flagship power phases, almost nothing. It includes the 4 regulatory DIMM slots that support 128 GB DDR4-3800 MHz and a total of three M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots, two of them 22110 and one 2280. We still do not know details of how they are managed, but we intuit that one of they will go straight to the chipset.
We also have 4 PCIe 4.0 x16 slots that support Nvidia SLI and AMD Crossfire 3-way, all of them reinforced with steel. And be careful here, because this board includes two optional expansion cards next to it. It is a PCIe card with two M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 and another 10 Gigabit / s LAN card.
In addition to all this, we have dual LAN connectivity with a 2.5G Killer chip and another Intel GbE along with the Intel Wireless-AX 200 Wi-Fi card and more than commented. The sound card includes an ESS DAC with a special headphone amplifier that enhances the audio experience. On the rear panel we are surprised to find only 3 USB 3.1 Gen2 + 1 Type-C and 2 USB 3.1 Gen1, it really is very little compared to what is seen in other brands. MSI has included a curious dedicated Jack connector for hi-fi headphones.
MSI MEG X570 ACE
The second board we have in this family is a really interesting ACE too. In fact, we have many things similar to the previous one, in the absence of knowing how LANES are distributed.
The exterior design is quite similar in terms of heatsinks, the chipset still has an active heatsink, although without lighting and heatpipe that runs through the entire board to the VRM, which in this case is 12 + 2 + 1 phases, maintaining the two 8-pin connectors for high-level overclocking.
The PCIe 4.0 x16 slot count drops to three, supporting Nvidia SLI and CrossFire 2-way. Although if the 4 reinforced DIMMs and the three M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots are kept, one 22110 and two 2280. In this case, two PCIe 4.0 x1 slots have been added, which are possibly managed by the chipset, as well as one of the PCIe x16.
We also have Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, and dual LAN connectivity with Killer 2.5G and Intel GbE, as well as the DAC included on the sound card. On the back panel we have what appear to be 3 USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A and one Type-C, along with 2 USB 3.1 Gen1 and another 2 USB 2.0.
Availability
We expect these new boards to appear on the market in early July, alongside the first batch of AMD Ryzen 3000X. We also do not know prices, since the brand has not spoken about it, at least during the event.

For our part, we certainly hope to get our hands on these two wonders and analyze them for all of you. What do you think of these two boards compared to the ones we've already seen from Asus and Gigabyte?
