We continue our review of news from MSI with these three new boards that are located in the MPG family, some gaming boards, although with less benefits than the MEG presented.

The three models that we will touch are MSI MPG X570 Gaming Pro Carbon WiFi, as the one with the best features and with Wi-Fi 6, MSI MPG X570 Gaming EDGE WiFi, somewhat more basic and maintaining the WiFi and M.2 heatsink and the MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus, the most basic of the three with wireless connectivity.

What these plates bring with AMD X570

The X570 chipset is the evolution of the previous X470, a chipset oriented to use in the new 3rd generation AMD Ryzen, although it is compatible with 1st and 2nd as well. The most important innovation is that it offers support for the new PCIe 4.0 standard, a bus that doubles the speed of PCIe 3.0, that is, we have 2000 MB / s for each data line both up and down. In addition, the chip has 20 PCIe LANES where manufacturers take advantage to introduce more slots and M.2.

The second novelty is the incorporation of Wi-Fi 6 cards in some of the boards, that is, a wireless connection running through the 802.11ax protocol and which offers a speed of 2402 Mb / s 2 × 2 at 5 GHz, and 574 Mb / s in the 2.4 GHz band together with Bluetooth 5.0. In this case, only two of the plates have Wi-Fi.

We clearly see a somewhat more restrained design and with less detail than the top range presented in the MEG family. But a great I / O panel protector still remains with good heatsinks in the VRM and Mystic Light LED lighting. Something like there is more lighting in the right side of the plate.

We also have a heatsink with an exposed fan in the chipset and two aluminum covers for the M.2 slots, although it seems necessary to remove the entire heatsink in order to install them, since it is integral. In any case, the VRM reduces its phases until 12, being able to appreciate the constant that all manufacturers have substantially increased this feeding area.

Well, we have four DIMMs but without steel reinforcements, although they still support 128 GB of DDR4-3800 MHz RAM. Beneath these, there are a total of two PCIe 4.0 x16 slots supporting AMD Crossfire 2-way Multi-GPUs, though not Nvidia SLI. Regarding storage, the count is reduced to two M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots with integrated heatsink. One of them should be managed by the chipset.

One positive thing is that we have Wi-Fi 6 connectivity integrated thanks to the Intel Wireless-AX 200 card, although LAN connectivity is reduced to a single 10/100/1000 Mb / s port as normal. In the E / panel we have a total of 3 USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A, 1 Type-C, 2 USb 3.1 Gen1 and 2 USB 2.0. HDMI video port included. Very complete board for mid-high range gaming PC without spending large sums of money.

We continue with the next plate, which goes down one step in performance in general, so it will be located in a medium range. However, we still have pre-installed Wi-Fi connectivity alongside 10/100/1000 Mb LAN connectivity / RGB lighting on the far right side. Your VRM consists of 10 phases.

MSI has had the detail of protecting one of the two PCIe 4.0 x16 slots with steel, which also support AMD CrossFire 2-way. And as a spare space, since three PCIe 4.0 x1 slots have been introduced, of which at least two will be managed by the chipset as usual in these boxes.

The two regulatory M.2s have been installed, obviously PCIe 4.0 x4 for new generation units that will gradually arrive. One of these slots features an aluminum heatsink integrated with that of the chipset along with an exposed fan with MSI's own Frozr technology. MSI has also installed NAHIMIC 3 capacitors on your sound card to enhance the sound experience.

MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus

And the third plate that has been presented is the one that offers the most discreet benefits, although they will not be bad for them. In fact, we have the same chipset with the same capacity, and the same number of PCIe 4.0 x16 and x1 slots and the same location and finishes have been included. The VRM is maintained in those 12 power phases and two power connectors, one 8-pin and the other 4-pin.

A total of 6 SATA 6 Gbps ports have been installed and the two M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots 22110 and 2280 respectively are maintained, one with a separate heatsink from the chipset, which once again comes with a fan. In this board we do not have RGB lighting, and only the area of the sound card will light up.

Finally, we must bear in mind that this board does not include Wi-Fi 6 and only a GbE LAN connection. Similarly, we have a rear panel similar to the rest, with 3 USB 3.1 Gen2 + 1 Type-C, 2 USB 3.1 Gen1 and another 2 USB 2.0. We also do not have the backplate of the panel pre-installed as in the previous cases, although it is not too interesting.

Availability

Obviously, we do not know the specific dates of departure, something that is maintained in all our news that comes first-hand from Computex 2019. Like the rest they will leave in early July with the Ryzen, or weeks later.

They are quite interesting boards from the point of view of the medium-high range and for users who want quality without giving up Wi-Fi connectivity and the benefits of the new AMD chipset.
