Msi and its prototype pcie card for 2 ssd m.2 drives
Table of contents:
It is currently fashionable for the new motherboards to come with a special connector for SSD drives in M.2 format, which is rapidly evolving the storage of computers by variants of much higher speed than those found in SATA III SSDs. not to mention the classic hard drives.
MSI shows its prototype of a PCIe card for two SSDs in M.2 format
Although the M.2 format brings many benefits, not everything is perfect. These memory units are often located in a bad way on the motherboard and remember that they also usually generate a lot of heat, so they can affect, above all, graphics cards, causing problems to cool properly.
MSI has thought about this and presents a prototype card that connects via PCIe 3.0 that allows connecting up to two SSD units in M.2 format, with its own cooling system, in addition to being able to add a 2.5-inch SATA III disk.
The MSI card allows RAID 0 of both SSDs and can reach speeds of up to 7200 MB / s.
As seen in the image, the MSI prototype has a slot that opens and allows you to add the SSDs without too much effort, and it has also included its own LED lighting so that it does not clash within our team.
So far the good news, the bad news is that we will have to wait until the beginning of 2018 to see one of these cards in stores, which still does not even have a name. It would be very interesting to see models with more than 2 M.2 SSDs, if that is possible.
