Niantic has wanted to celebrate the first anniversary of Pokémon Go with the celebration of the first event in the real world of the game. The city chosen for said event was Chicago. Finally, the event was held on July 22 in the American city. And it can be described as a failure.

In addition to the event in the United States, the company announced that several events were to be held in Europe. Cities like Stockholm, Copenhagen and Amstelveen were announced. But, after the failure of the event in the United States there has been a change of plans and the events have been delayed.

Niantic postpones events

The event in Chicago has not met the expectations of users or experts. Thousands of players had trouble connecting to the game during that event. So they could not participate in many of the activities organized during it, such as the capture of the Legendary Pokémon. So Niantic was forced to offer returns to these users.

Therefore, after this failure, from Niantic they announce that some of the events in Europe are going to be delayed. At least the Copenhagen and Prague events (planned for August 5) and the Stockholm and Amstelveen events (August 12) have already been delayed. And no new date has been announced yet. Definitely a bad sign, so it wouldn't be a surprise if they end up being canceled.

From Niantic they apologize for the inconvenience caused to the Pokémon Go followers who had tickets for such events. Although they have stated that some exclusive news will arrive in European cities as compensation. Meanwhile, what will happen with the rest of the Pokémon Go events in Europe is not revealed. So the event in Barcelona continues with the same date, although that may change.
