Nvidia has quietly announced the GTX 1060 GDDR5X. This new green team graphics card has been seen on Nvidia's own spec sheet, though little else is known about the card beyond its memory specification. With this it seems that we will have to wait long to see the GeForce RTX 2060 arrive.

GeForce RTX 2060 will be made to pray before the arrival of the GTX 1060 GDDR5X

Nvidia released the RTX 20 series cards last month, starting at $ 499 for the RTX 2070. Nvidia's new Turing graphics cards don't even attempt to compete in the entry-level or mid-range segments, leaving this task the most popular Pascal card, the GTX 1060. AMD is rumored to be preparing an RX 590 graphics card. Little is known about the new GPU, but it appears to be similar to the RX 580, albeit with faster clock speeds than previous Polaris iterations. That could be the reason why Nvidia suddenly decided to launch a new version of its most popular graphics card.

The new graphics card is confirmed with just a small tweak on the Nvidia website, but it seems like at least it's intentional. Where once the 'Frame Buffer' section of the GTX 1060s specification table indicated 6GB GDDR5, it now indicates 6GB GDDR5 / X. It appears that that change was made over a month ago, sometime around the launch of the RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 2080, but it was only recently discovered by a user on Reddit.

GeForce RTX 2060 GPUs based on the Turing architecture are still a long way from launch. It seems that for now the benefits of Turing, raytracing and DLSS are going to be exclusive to the wealthiest wallets.
