Noctua expands its A series of fans and accessories

Customers have been asking us for thin 20cm and 12cm fans for years but meeting our quality standards has made it very difficult to manufacture, so it took us quite a while to make the new products. The NF-A4x20 has been conceived following the requests of our industrial customers, who are looking for a 40mm fan capable of providing superior performance in high pressure applications compared to the existing NF-A4x10.

According to Noctua, designing a 200mm fan is not easy if you are looking for high quality, the impeller mass is four times compared to a 120mm fan, so the use of fiberglass has been necessary to reduce the impeller mass of the new Noctua fan by 26%. Additionally, the diameter of the shaft and bearing has been increased from 3 mm to 4 mm in order to distribute the load over a larger area.

Best coolers, fans and liquid cooling for PC

Water cooling fans and system developers will appreciate the new NF-A12x15 fan. Measuring 120 x 120 x 15mm, they are ideal for use with water cooling systems in very confined spaces. With a 10mm reduction in thickness compared to standard 120mm fans it allows installation in very narrow spaces.

Furthermore, the company doubled the thickness of its 40 x 40 x 10mm fans to reach 40 x 40 x 20mm making them a better choice for scenarios that require very high air pressure such as servers. Rack mounted and other devices like routers, DVRs, and NAS enclosures.

In addition to the new cooling fans, Noctua therefore adds a new fan controller for up to three 4-pin PWM fans. The controller can be used to manually control the fan speed from 0 to 100% or work in tandem with 4-pin PWM headers to allow fans to run slower than PWM setting on the motherboard. The company also announced new silicone anti-vibration mounts that work with standard 10mm open and closed corner fans at 25mm thick. Lastly, there is a new 4-pin SATA adapter for those users who want to power high-voltage fans directly from the SATA connectors on the power supply.

The estimated prices are as follows:

NF-A20 PWM $ 30
NF-A20 FLX $ 30
NF-A12x15 PWM $ 20
NF-A12x15 FLX $ 20
NF-A4x20 PWM $ 15
NF-A4x20 FLX $ 15
