It has been said many times but finally it has become official, Nokia returns to the smartphone market and will do so hand in hand with the Android operating system, something that Finnish fans have been asking for a long time. Nokia's return will not be entirely as we would have liked since the company will limit itself to owning the brand and patents as well as supervising the design of the new terminals.

We will see new Nokia smartphones very soon

Recall that Nokia sold its division of smartphones to Microsoft after a long agony at the hands of the Windows Phone operating system, a platform that never took off and it seems that its successor Windows 10 did not do so either. It was in 2014 when Microsoft took over the Lumia smartphone division and since then has launched quite attractive terminals such as the Lumia 650, although they have not been received very well by users.

We recommend our guide to the best low and mid-range smartphones.

It was during the Capital Markets Day event that a slide was shown that talks about Nokia's return to the smartphone market, it is a great agreement between the Finnish, HMD and Foxconn so that the last two will be in charge of the manufacture and distribution of the new terminals with the Nokia seal.

HMD has a ten-year agreement to market the new Nokia smartphones and products, and will also provide 500 million euros in marketing during the first three years. The Finnish new first smartphone with Android could be announced during the MWC in February and would be launched on the market during the second quarter of 2017. Some rumors suggest that it could be announced before the end of this year but it does not seem very likely so be it.
