New scam on whatsapp: call of 1,500 euros

Every so often a new scam comes out on WhatsApp. We have had quite a few throughout this year. From free Netflix to popcorn. Now, it's time for a new scam in the instant messaging application. This is the call of 1, 500 euros.

New scam on WhatsApp: Call of 1, 500 euros

There is a chain circulating on WhatsApp that tells us that we are going to receive a call that will cost us 1, 500 euros. In addition, for users to create such a message, it says that Telefónica and the OCU are alerting about this scam.

But this message is a scam. Neither the OCU nor Telefónica are warning about this problem. And if they did, a chain on WhatsApp would not be the chosen way to do it. Something that should take away all credibility from that message. But, in case there are users who create it. Don't do it. It is a hoax.

In the message that circulates through the application, a normal phone number is shown, so a cost of 1, 500 euros would be unthinkable. That would only be possible with so-called premium numbers. Numbers beginning with 5, 27, 28, 29, 35, 37, 39, 79 or 99. And generally they are usually between 5 and 7 digits.
