With the arrival of the promising new Ryzen microprocessors, AMD plans to add new standard refrigeration to keep these new critters cool.

New heatsinks for Ryzen with RGB lighting

AMD will add three different models of coolers for its entire line of Ryzen processors, ranging from 1100 to 1800X, the latter as the top of the range with 8 physical and 16 logical cores.

In the image above you can see the three heatsinks, the one on the right (called Wraith Spire) being the most effective for the most powerful processors, ranging from the Ryzen 7 1700 model onwards. One of the most interesting news is that these heatsinks will bring with them an RGB lighting system, as confirmed by Raja Koduri, the senior vice president and head of architecture at AMD from his Twitter account.

All three models will cover the 65W, 95W, and 120W TDP Ryzen processors and will come with the purchase of each, as is customary. Hopefully, processor models specially designed for overclocking will come without one of these to cut costs.

The new AMD processors are built in 14nm FinFET, so they should be pretty cool, and these heatsinks will ensure they stay at more than stable temperatures. With the good news that all Ryzen family processors will come with multipliers unlocked, this new cooling system is likely to suffer from a good overclocking, we'll know that as soon as they get to our Professional Review labs.
