HP has shown at Gamescom 2018 what is its new gaming laptop, the HP OMEN 15 that stands out for having good specifications at a price that is not at all exorbitant. Let's get to know him!

The starting model of the new HP OMEN 15 is now available at an interesting price

Let's take a look at the starting model of the new range of computers, which will have a rather unusual combination of CPU and GPU, since it uses a high-end processor such as the Intel Core i7-8750H 6-core and 12 threads with a mid or low-end graphics card such as the 4GB GTX 1050. This configuration will allow you to play almost any title, but perhaps it will be more attractive for users who, in addition to playing, will work or stream, given the power of the CPU.

The storage will consist of a maximum speed NVMe PCIe SSD with a capacity of 256GB and a 1TB mechanical hard drive at 7200rpm.

Regarding RAM, we are not so lucky since it uses a single 8GB module, which means that we do not have a dual channel, although it makes it easy (and recommended) to upgrade after 16GB.

The model they showed us at this Gamescom corresponds to the top of the range with a GTX 1070 Max-Q graphics card and a screen with a refresh rate of 144Hz, which we assume will be 60 in this case. Otherwise, most specifications are shared throughout the range, such as the 15.6 ″ screen with IPS panel and highly reduced frames .

Other aspects at the design level that should be mentioned are the keyboard with 4 illuminated zones, and the thickness of the design, since we are not facing a series of particularly thick notebooks, especially considering their high performance. Hopefully they refrigerate correctly (we will confirm it on the web in a future review)

The device's battery looks promising at 4 cells and 70 Wh, and it could last a decent time even at its specs.

To finish with the specifications, other aspects mentioned by the brand are the Bang & Olufsen sound, Gigabit connectivity by LAN, WiFi 802.11b / g / n / ac and Bluetooth 4.2, 4 USB connections, 1 Mini Displayport, 1 HDMI and more.

Now that we have told you the specifications, it's time to talk about the price, and that is that this laptop is already available at a price of € 999 in stores like PCComponentes. It seems like a pretty good price for a computer with leading-edge components, IPS display, decent battery life, one of the most powerful laptop processors, PCIe NVMe SSDs, and more.

Perhaps the weakest point is the graphics card, since a 4GB 1050 may seem short for certain demanding players, with options with 1050 Ti or higher and 4-core and 8-thread processors hovering around this price. It all depends on what the user decides to prioritize. What do you think about it? We want to know your opinion!
