Well, we continue with the news that QNAP brings, and another very interesting from the point of view of networks and backup for small businesses is this QNAP Guardian QGD-1600P. It is a device that is both switch and NAS. We tell you all its news below.

In the first instance, we have what appears to be an ordinary switch in terms of design and structure. If we look at the right area, we have a panel that brings a total of 12 GbE ports with 90W PoE function in four of them, perfectly marked on the equipment. In addition, we have two SFP ports to combine with RJ-45 blocks and the ability to install 10 GbE ports thanks to its two PCIe slots. In fact, this switch function can be managed with its own firmware in a normal and current way.

And now we are going to talk about the hardware, which is not that of a normal switch, since it brings an Intel Celeron J4115 quad-core at 1.8 GHz along with 4 or 8 GB of RAM that can be installed in two slots. The switches do not have this hardware, so let's go back to the back panel where we will find an LCD panel next to 2 USB 2.0, 1 USB 3.1 Gen1 and an HDMI port.

This area is directly connected to the NAS function, which in this case we will have the capacity to install up to two 3.5-inch HDD hard drives managed by the QTS 4.4.1 operating system. This is its NAS function, since it also incorporates a Wi-Fi card with four antennas in the back area.

Availability

We have seen that this is clearly not a computer that needs a normal and ordinary user, for this there are already normal routers and NAS, but it is a great option for a company that wants an all-in-one installed in a cabinet and with everything the power of the QTS operating system.

We recommend our guide to the best NAS on the market

The price will not know until August, since QNAP has not given details about it, but has informed us that it is possibly in store for the month of September 2019. In short, we will have to wait a few months to see it.
