The new MX 230 and MX 250 models replace the GeForce MX 130 and MX 150, although there isn't really much improvement in performance, despite the change in nomenclature. Both solutions are based on Pascal, so there are no performance improvements that Turing would offer.

GeForce MX 230 and MX 250 come to light

The announcement may seem a bit disappointing, as we expected Nvidia to jump into Turing by now with this series. The green giant has not revealed anything about the number of CUDA cores or other specific data of these chips, we only know that they work together with GDDR5 memory and Boost functionality to increase performance in certain situations.

Performance would be similar to MX 100 series

The weird thing is that Nvidia's performance scores compare the MX 230 and MX 250 with the Intel HD 620 with a performance improvement below the MX 150. While the older MX 150 was reported by Nvidia with up to a 4-fold improvement performance compared to the Intel option. The new MX 250 now claims to be up to 3.5 times more powerful than that Intel HD 620. Only NVIDIA knows if this is due to a new testing methodology or for some other reason.

The GeForce MX 150 is a GPU for notebooks that already does its job, with a maximum clock speed of 1532 MHz, and about 1127 GFlops of power with a TDP of 25 W. The GPU is capable of running GTA V with graphical options. high at 1080p and reaches 100 fps if we lower the resolution to 720p. The MX 250 should offer something similar, hopefully with some performance improvement. We will keep you informed.
