NVIDIA Outperformed MediaTek to Rank 3rd in the World's Largest Integrated Circuit Board Sellers
According to the DigiTimes newspaper, the graphics card manufacturer NVIDIA enjoyed strong demand from data centers and companies working with professional display applications in the second quarter of 2017, when the company's revenue rose 56.7% year-on-year up to $ 1, 910 million.
As a result, NVIDIA ranked third among integrated circuit vendors and had the highest revenue growth of any company in the top 10 on this list.
Broadcom remained the largest seller of integrated circuits in the second quarter of 2017, with a 17.3% year-over-year increase in revenue to $ 4.37 billion. Qualcomm ranks in second place with a year-on-year growth of 13.1%, up to a total of $ 4.05 billion during the same period, TRI notes.
NVIDIA managed to position itself in the top 3 also thanks to a slight decline by two of its biggest rivals, MediaTek and Marvell, which were the only two companies in the top 10 vendors of integrated circuits to experience declines in revenue.
The integrated circuit industry is certainly an excellent growth area for NVIDIA, and the company clearly capitalizes on the growing demand for specialized chips in a multitude of industries. Earlier this month, the company disclosed better-than-expected earnings for the fiscal second quarter, with year-on-year growth of nearly 60%.
