NVIDIA Geforce RTX 2070 is here, but it's still unclear what the generation increase has been.

We continue with the most important feature of this generation: ray tracing. The new RTX 2070 will have a power of 6 Giga Rays / s, which contrasts with the ~ 1 Giga Ray / s of the GTX 1080 Ti.

However, this brutal increase in power only applies to ray tracing, and not to, for example, the gaming performance of this graphics card with such technology disabled. No information has yet been released on the true generational increase that has occurred in 2 years, as the conference has focused exclusively on ray tracing. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said at the Gamescom presentation that " the RTX 2070 will be faster than the Titan Xp" , but in almost all likelihood this applies only to ray tracing capabilities, an issue it has monopolized the entire conference.

We maintain an 8GB VRAM memory with respect to the GTX 1070, with the advantages that it implies over the GDDR5X technology.

This graphics card will have a consumption of 185W, compared to 180W of the 1070 Ti and 150W of the 1070. It is not normal to see increases in consumption in new generations, but in this case the increase is not radical. The graphics card will continue to receive power from a single 6-pin connector.

The pre-sale price of this graph is 639 euros, and shipments will be made from September 20.

As you can see, the starting prices of this generation are higher than its predecessors, something that also happened with Pascal, and the problem lies in the lack of knowledge of the generational improvement beyond Ray Tracing.

Update: An important information is that the RTX 2070 lacks an NVLink connector so you will not be able to use this multi-GPU technology.
