Nvidia shows off its turf effects technology to simulate footprint
The graphics giant Nvidia continues with its intention to offer users ever more realistic graphics and has shown a video where you can see the benefits of its new technology, within GameWorks, Turf Effects that is responsible for rendering large grass realism with wide potential physical interactions.
Using Turf Effects you can render grass blades using from three to one hundred triangles for each one offering a high level of detail. It also allows complex shading and lighting effects to be applied individually to each of the sheets. It also allows for complex physical interactions between the wind, objects, the player and the rendered grass giving a highly realistic appearance.
So when we play a game with Nvidia's Turf Effects technology, we can see, for example, how the grass is affected when we step on it and recovers its original position when we stop doing it.
