The Nvidia Pascal GPU architecture has been a tremendous success thanks to great performance and excellent power efficiency. The only drawback is that the laptops that make use of Pascal are anything but cheap, something that would change once entered 2017 with the arrival of new, more modest performance models.

Affordable laptops with Pascal for 2017

A Laptop Media report points out that Nvidia is working on two new laptop GPUs with the aim of bringing all the benefits of the Pascal architecture to users who do not have enough budget to buy a computer with high-end graphics or simply not they need it. These new GPUs would be derived from the desktop GeForce GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti and will arrive in 2017.

The most powerful Pascal cards for laptops arrived shortly after their desktop versions, something that has not happened with the more modest versions such as the GTX 1050 series. The reason for this would be behind the migration to the manufacturing process at 14 nm from Samsung from the 16nm TSMC. Of course, another reason may be that Nvidia wants to sell as many high-end models as possible that give it a much higher profit margin.
