Nvidia plans to release the geforce gtx 1660 ti based on turing, but without rtx
Table of contents:
Nvidia is planning to launch a new Turing based GPU on the market called Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. This card implements the 12nm architecture, but without Ray Tracing capability. The price could be around 250 or 300 euros.
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti without RTX, but better than 1060
We were saying yesterday that Nvidia could consider launching new GTX models in view of the fact that the previous range is practically exhausted. And, more or less, it has been, although better than expected. As we already know, Nvidia does not yet have an RTX-based graphics card for the lower-middle range, and it is confirmed that it will not be, at least for now.
Why? Well it's pretty easy to guess. RTX cards implement the great novelty of being able to perform ray tracing in real time, for this, in addition to CUDA cores, they have implemented new RT and Tensor cores, in addition to GDDR6 memories. It does not make sense to create a low-end graphics card to carry out these tasks, since the production cost would be greater than the advantages that we and the brand would obtain.
So what they have done is create a hybrid between the RTX and the GTX, this is how the GTX 1660 Ti comes out. This graphics card is based on a Turing processor called TU116 12nm, which has had its RT cores removed to leave only 1536 CUDA based on Turing and the occasional Tensor core to support DLSS acceleration. In addition to this, they also intend to implement GDDR6 memory alongside a 192 bit bus. The result will be a graphics card superior to the 1060 and perhaps to the 1070 but inferior to the RTX 2060, as is normal.

The price of this new creation could be around 250 or 300 euros, something quite attractive for tight pockets of possibility. We believe that it could be positioned as the best option for the lower-middle range in terms of price and performance. We will bring you more news as soon as we know them. What do you think of this new Nvidia card, do you think it is something successful? As always, write us in the comments to know all your opinions.
