The possible specifications of the GeForce GTX 960 and 960Ti are still unknown but it is rumored that it could have between 10 and 12 SMMs, which would be equivalent to a total of between 1280 and 1536 CUDA Cores. From here we can think of several possibilities about the chip that would be used:

First of all we think that it could be a Maxwell GM204 chip with between 3 and 4 SMMs disabled, that is to say that GM204 chips that do not have enough quality would be used to give life to the GTX 980 and 970.

The other possibility is that the GeForce GTX 960 are based on a new graphics core, possibly the GM206, which would have 10 SMMs, that is: 1280 shader processors, a configuration that would allow Nvidia to offer a cheaper chip to produce and with a superior performance than the current GeForce GTX 760.
The GeForce GTX 960 (GM204 or GM206) GPU is rumored to be announced by Nvidia in mid-October this year.
