Nvidia wants to eliminate the resale of keys in its promotions (clarifications within)
Table of contents:
Nvidia has been doing promotions for a while with the purchase of its GeForce graphics cards, giving away current game codes such as Watch Dogs 2, Gears of War 4 or the recent For Honor and Ghost Recon: Wildlands.
Nvidia changes the method to redeem game keys in their promotions
With the latest promotion, Nvidia has made some changes to the method in which gift keys are accessed. The most important change is that you must have installed the GeForce Experience application to be able to redeem the keys. With this measure, Nvidia wants to control people who claim their keys and cannot resell them later.
When the key is exchanged through GeForce Experience, the code we receive is linked to our account and also to the account of the online store (Steam, uPlay, Origin, etc.) that provides the download of the video game. In addition, through GeForce Experience, a hardware check is made to determine that the user really has the right graphics card with the promotion, something that is in the terms of use.
IMPORTANT: Edited by the management: They clarify for us from Nvidia Spain that the game is not linked to Geforce Experience but to your store account. So NVIDIA has no control over your game once the game has been redeemed.
Recall that with Gears of War 4, many people had taken advantage of the redemption system and bought a graphics card and then canceled the purchase and got a free key. Through this new method, this problem is solved and they prevent the resale of keys in online stores outside of the official ones.
For now, For Honor and Ghost Recon: Wildlands are still on sale with the purchase of a GTX 1080 and 1070 until March 28.
