Nzxt announces its new e series of digitally controlled power supplies

NZXT is a well-known brand on the PC case, liquid coolers and lighting products market. However, there is a market in which they have been present for many years and that many of the users are unaware of: power supplies. Until now, the manufacturer had the Hale82 and Hale90 ranges, but that changes today with its new E fonts.

E sources reach the upper-middle range with 80 Plus Gold certification and fully modular cabling, which is practically standard on the market. However, the brand tries to stand out with very interesting additions such as a digital system for monitoring and controlling the source in real time .

Internally, these models will be manufactured by the renowned Seasonic and based on the internal design of the Focus + series, the quality of which we were able to verify in the Antec HCG Gold review, this time being a platform taken to the extreme thanks to numerous additions. what includes. As expected, it makes use of 100% Japanese 105ºC condensers, although the brand does not mention which fan they have used.

Communication with the equipment is done through CAM software with a micro-USB connector located on the modular board of the source. The system uses a Texas Instruments microcontroller, and not only allows the consumption, temperature and efficiency of the source to be monitored by software, but also breaks down the consumption of the various components of the equipment.

Regarding the control functionalities, it allows us to modify the fan curve if we do not want to use its default semi-passive mode, and more importantly: we can separate the 12V rail into 3 virtual ones, with which we will have overcurrent protection (OCP) in 12V, a very important safety feature that the original Focus + do not have. In order not to cause problems with the components we install, we can also adjust the amperage limit of each 12V rail.

To finish, the range will have a model of 500, 650 and 850W, whose prices will be 119.9 euros, 1, 290.9 euros and 149.9 euros respectively. Availability is immediate in America and will arrive throughout this month in Europe and Asia. All models are backed by a 10 year warranty.
