Oculus and htc already work in virtual reality without cables
Table of contents:
The main virtual reality glasses for desktop computers, such as HTC Vive or Oculus Rift, have a major flaw today. One of the most common hardware restrictions today is the physical connection to a computer. Virtual reality glasses require cables to connect to a PC and ensure data flow at the highest possible speed.
Wireless virtual reality is about to arrive
The use of cables while wearing glasses is a limitation on our freedom of movement and is probably also potentially dangerous if we do not accidentally trip over or pull on them.
To solve this aspect, advances are being made in the field of wireless virtual reality to improve the experience. Next we are going to see what is the future of virtual reality without cables.
Oculus Santa Cruz
Oculus' latest work in wireless VR technology is known as Santa Cruz, a self-contained glasses that offers a completely wireless experience. Although the glasses are still in their early stages of development, prototypes have already been spotted at the Oculus Connect keynote held in October. This variant of the Oculus Rift does not appear to have a very different design from the current one, apart from a new processing unit mounted on the back of the device.
HTC Vive TPCAST
HTC has revealed a wireless upgrade kit for the HTC Vive, created in collaboration with TPCAST. The $ 220 plug-in is configured to provide wireless virtual reality experiences for current HTC Vive owners, taking advantage of the modular design of the glasses. Although the kit is not currently available, HTC promises that this addition does not affect the performance of traditional HTC Vive glasses in any way. The plugin can be pre-ordered currently and will be available in the first quarter of 2017.
Sulon Q
These new virtual reality glasses were born from an initiative between AMD and the Sulon company to offer glasses that already have a computer inside, in this way we totally do without an external PC and therefore we get rid of cables.
At the moment we do not know when they will go on sale but it is an option to consider in the future in wireless virtual reality.
As the panorama is, it seems that HTC is the first to take the step towards eliminating cables, one of the many defects that this technology still has.
Sulon q: virtual and augmented reality without pc
Sulon Q are the new virtual reality glasses without using a PC. It is as simple as connecting with an AMD APU processor computer.
