Opera gx: everything you need to know about the browser for gamers

You probably know Opera since it is one of the most famous web browsers out there. However, since it does not have a large part of the network users, the company has decided to invest in an experimental browser. Opera GX is the first browser that wants to become the favorite of players around the globe.

What is Opera GX ?

Although it is not a finished application (it is in beta phase) , it already gives some indications that it may be a browser to consider.

On the other hand, it has a dark design, with bright colors and polygonal straight lines, an appearance that many players may like, and personally, I find it right. Although, as you will guess, we can change the appearance to take other colors and even backgrounds.

How to install and use Opera GX

Once you have installed the application you will be able to use it commonly just as you used your default browser. In addition, many of the shortcuts present in other firms are present here such as Ctrl + N (New window) or Ctrl + Shift / Shift + T (Open last closed tab)…

In the toolbar on the left we have most interesting applications.

If we press the Opera button, a list of actions will sound that will sound:

On the right you will see the shortcuts to make the actions faster, if you have one. Also, you can access the shortcut settings and change them or activate some default packs. Everything is in your hand.

The next button is the one called GX Control . It is possibly the most striking functionality of this browser.

We can limit the application to use a percentage of the CPU and a certain amount of RAM . In the case of this computer, we can allocate between 1 and 8GB of RAM (it will take the maximum it can and needs) and in the case of the CPU, from 25% to 100% of performance.

By default we will also have the Twitch button. We will have to log in to get the list of users we follow. It will inform us if any of them are live, the game you are playing and if we press it, it will open a channel tab, automatically.

Finally, in the bar we have three buttons that take us to the history, the extensions (an ad blocker is downloaded by default) and the Configuration button.

On the other hand, in the upper right corner we have the three classic window control buttons: Minimize, Enlarge / Reduce and Close window. On your left, we have another extra button that allows us to switch between open tabs or to open recently visited pages.

Below, we have three buttons that will help us take screenshots of the browser, save the page in bookmarks and edit the appearance of Opera GX, respectively.

Among the functionalities that this browser offers us, we want to highlight the implementation of a native VPN . Only by accessing Settings and browsing a bit can we discover and configure it to our liking.

The last functionality that we will talk about is to watch videos in a floating window. It is a feature that optimized to work on Twitch and YouTube , although it may also work on other players.

The third button on the right allows us to edit certain aspects of the program and will display this bar from the right.

We have many more options, but the ones we would like to mention are:

It is true that Opera has never been one of the most used platforms, but it has always been one that has remained firm. We have seen how this browser has evolved and has often been the pioneer in implementing certain technologies. Perhaps this idea is a failure, or perhaps it is the new trend that will grow.
