Oppo will launch a new smartphone with triple camera and 10x optical zoom

Oppo, the popular maker of Android-based smartphones, will unveil a new smartphone that introduces a triple camera system with 10x optical zoom that is expected to launch next spring.

According to Engadget , this new camera system would be as follows:

"This will continue to be enabled by a triple camera module, but now we know that from top to bottom, it will start with a 48-megapixel high-resolution main camera, followed by an ultra-wide 120-degree camera and a periscopic telephoto camera. Together these cameras cover a range from 16mm to 160mm, therefore the zoom rating is 10x. ”

Both the main camera and zoom camera come with optical image stabilization, interspersed with fixed zoom settings to provide continuous “optical” zoom from 1x to 10x.

Both GSMArena and PCWorld have already been able to get their hands on Oppo's new smartphone and have provided some samples of what this new triple camera system is capable of:

And while Oppo has already launched the triple camera system, the competition could follow a similar path. In fact, there are numerous rumors pointing in the direction that Apple could also introduce a triple camera setup on its upcoming iPhone devices. Well-known analyst Ming Chi Kuo noted that the new iPhones will have a "wide-angle, telephoto and ultra-wide lens."

A third camera on the back of iPhone 2019 will help the device capture a wider field of view and allow for a wider zoom range, and will also capture more pixels. Will Apple make the leap to the triple camera system? Will the industry follow this same path?
