Over the weekend, we had the news that Gigabyte had revealed a new updated version of the popular GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card. The update, which includes a boost with GDDR5X, was seen as a means of removing some of the remaining stock from the GTX 10 series. Palit is doing its thing, announcing the GTX 1060 GamingPro OC + model.

GTX 1060 GamingPro OC + comes with GDDR5X memory and GP104 chip

We could also argue that the launch of a GTX 1060 model with GDDR5X memory is due to AMD's RX 590. Either way, Palit, like Gigabyte, already has its own model ready with this memory.

Palit's new graphics card uses 6GB of GDDR5X memory and a GP104 chip (instead of the GP106). Unlike the AMD 590 model, which did see leaks from some benchmarks, we know very little about the performance of these new models, and if they really mean a breakthrough compared to the 6GB GTX 1060 that we already have on the market.

At the moment, its performance is a mystery

However, we are likely to see a 10-15% performance gain. That would not be bad. Especially if the new 1060 models can maintain a price similar to what they are now. This is pure speculation, so we will have to wait until we can see the first results.

The first line of AMD RX 590 graphics cards is slated for November 15. So it will be curious to know how quickly this Nvidia alternative can follow up on this.
