Patriot unveils viper ssd drives with phison e12 drivers
Table of contents:
Patriot announces its new solid state drives in M.2 format, it is the Viper SSD. One of the highlights of these Viper units is that they will come with the Phison E12 controller.
Viper SSD uses 64-layer 3D NAND memory
Phison's E12 controller is NVMe 1.3 compliant, supports 8 NAND channels, and offers a PCIe 3.0 x4 interface with powerful ECC algorithms for data protection. These features are combined with Toshiba's 64-layer BICS 3D NAND flash memory. The company wants these products to be more successful than the company's previous Hellfire flagships, with more attractive and modern design, performance and features.
Viper SSDs will come in capacities ranging from 240GB to 2TB. Patriot is using the performance estimates provided by the new Phison E12 controllers for these new M.2 SSDs. It is said that they can achieve a data transfer rate of 3200 MB / s in sequential read and 3000 MB / s in sequential write. It is also estimated to be around 600K random read and IOPS random write.
Drives in the NVMe M.2 format are becoming quite popular as they offer significantly higher performance speeds than SSDs that are used in SATA format. Viper SSD would be a new option, which also comes with 64-layer 3D NAND memory. We still do not know the price they will have or their arrival date in stores.
