Plextor launches 500mb / s ex1 external ssd drives
Plextor has unveiled its new line of EX1 external SSD drives, which come with a USB 3.1 Type-C connector.
The new EX1 external drives, which are quite small in size and weigh just 30 grams, offer an average transfer rate of 500MB / s in reading and writing data. This means that the speed offered by the EX1 is equivalent to an internal SATA3 SSD disk.
For this unit, Plextor used a TLC NAND memory manufactured by Hynix with a 16 nanometer process. The lower the manufacturing process in nanometers, the less energy consumption and the higher the density, therefore, it is possible to manufacture larger capacity memory units with the same size or less.
From the outside the SSD EX1 looks like an elongated USB key. With an aluminum casing and a fairly low weight, it gains a lot in portability. Thanks to the USB 3.1 Type-C connection, it is also compatible with the new MacBook and MacBook Pro.
Another very interesting feature of connectivity is that it is compatible with OTG technology, so it is possible to connect it to the most modern phones to serve as an additional storage medium and view the content from the phone stored on this disk without having to pass it to the terminal.
Plextor is launching these EX1 external drives later this month with capacities of 128, 256, and 512GB. At the moment they have not said at what price.
