It may sound like KeePass to many of you. It is one of the best tools to manage passwords. It is a free and open source application. Thanks to it, we can create a database where we can manage all our passwords. Just remember the master password to be able to access all of them.

PoshKPBrute: A script that breaks KeePass security

KeePass is very useful and has always stood out for its security. But, these types of applications are also vulnerable and subject to attack. Also, there is a script intended to make a brute force attack against the application. The name of this script is PoshKPBrute. We tell you more.

What is PoshKPBrute?

PoshKPBrute is a simple script written for PowerShell that aims to break the KeePass 2.34 master database password. Although it seems that it can also work with newer versions. It is designed to search for the database key through brute force. When it's done, it will dump all the passwords on the screen.

Next to the script you can find a complete dictionary of keys. This is what will be in charge of destroying the program and thus breaking the security of the database. Although it is a powerful and effective script, it has a major flaw. It is very slow. But it can test up to 500 passwords per second, although if the password is somewhat complex it can take days to break your security.

If the PowerShell console allows us to run the script because of the execution policy, we have to change the permission. For that, just run "Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted". Have you heard of PoshKPBrute before? What do you think of this script?
