We have the first images of the STRIX motherboard being prepared by the folks at ASUS for the new Threadripper processors. This is the ROG STRIX X399-E. This will be a cheaper version than the ROG Zenith Extreme and is the first of the line that we see in images for Threadripper.

This is the ROG STRIX X399-E for Threadripper

The motherboard is equipped with Intel Gigabit I211-AT chipset and 802.11AC wireless connection. Like other X399 motherboards we have a Realtek audio chipset, the ALC S1220A for excellent audio quality.

As we can see, this motherboard has four PCIe 3.0 x16 slots, one PCIe 4x and one PCIe 1x. In terms of storage, we have two M.2 slots, one U.2, and six SATA 6GB / s ports.

On the sides of the TR4 socket we see the 8 DDR4 memory banks positioned, they are 4 on each side with a total capacity of 128GB and a clock speed of 3600MHz. The rear panel of the ROG STRIX X399 E-Gaming we see two USB 3.1 Gen2 (type A and type C), eight USB 3.1 Gen1 ports, optical output, audio connector, RJ-45 connector and a quick BIOS update button.

As usual in this line, it will have RGB LED lighting for the ROG logo.

Pricing is currently unknown, but the ROG STRIX X399-E is expected to be available sometime between August and September to coincide with AMD's impending Threadripper.
