Qualcomm's Snapdragon 670 chip is going to be a major player in the mid-range segment of smartphones, replacing the current Snapdragon 660 and bringing with it a significant performance improvement.

With the first results on the performance of the Snapdragon 670, all is good news, achieving numbers in Geekbench that have nothing to envy to the current Snapdragon 845, present in high-end devices.

The new Qualcomm chip achieves scores of 1863 points in the single-core test, and 5563 in the multi-core test. This result would be quite impressive considering that the Snapdragon 835 that is seen today in phones like the OnePlus , achieves a score of 1960 and 5563 respectively in those tests.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 is manufactured in a 10nm process with 8 processing cores operating at a speed of 2GHz, it has 1MB of L3 cache and the GPU is Adreno 620. The curious thing about this matter is that the speed in the tests is 1.7 GHz, so the results could be even better than what we see today.

Although not confirmed, this Qualcomm SoC chip is expected to feature the LTE X16 modem, which offers download speeds of 1Gbps.

The Snapdragon 670 would not come alone, it is also waiting for the announcements of the Snapdragon 640 and 460, which will be used by low and mid-range mobile phones.
